Meet Lubna
Hello, hello, hello!
This is my first blog and there are tons of things I want to share with you. But first, let me introduce myself. My name is Lubna (pronounced as Luna with a “b” in the middle). I was born in Accra, Ghana, grew up in Pakistan and have lived almost all of my adult life in USA. I am a spouse of a USAF veteran, mother of four, lecturer and an assistant professor, desi food lover, an enthusiastic yogi, progressive entrepreneur and a thrill junkie.
My philosophy of life is very simple; Tu Jhoom- You will find whatever is yours! So Chill!
I have been practicing nutrition and wellness for more than eight years. I noticed that women from South Asian diaspora rarely find any credible sources of nutrition information and advice catered to their needs. More than 85% of the Dietitians are Caucasian and most do not have any idea or experience in treating Desi women. Don’t get me wrong, I love broccoli but broccoli, kale and quinoa can never replace the daal, chawal, saag or chaat. In addition, our Desi mindset is completely different and unique. Our traditions, festivals and foods are unique. So here I am, loaded with the knowledge and tastes of our desi foods, practicing the vibrant culture that represents us, ready to help you in your nutrition and health journey!
The main purpose of this blog is provide tips and evidence based practical ideas on health and nutrition. I promise to keep it short and sweet. If you have any pressing questions in mind that you always wanted to ask a nutritionist, here is your chance. You can also share in your comments what you would like to learn through these blogs.
Stay Healthy!
